About the workplace The Open Care Unit Family is part of the Children and Youth Section, which has a cohesive organization with overall responsibility for preventive work, investigations, and assistance-assessed interventions for children, youth, and their families. A total of 240 employees work in the section.

The Open Care Unit Family primarily works with assistance-assessed interventions and has the task of providing support and treatment to parents and their children as well as to adult perpetrators and victims of violence. In line with the new Social Services Act, treatment interventions are also offered without an assistance decision.

Based on the nature of the assignments, the unit is divided into three groups with different focuses. A total of 20 therapists work in the unit, led by 2 group leaders and 1 unit manager.

In Huddinge municipality, there has been a good formalized collaboration between the Social Administration and the Education Administration for children and youth with problematic school absenteeism for several years. As part of strengthening this collaboration, we are now recruiting a family therapist with a special focus on the target group.

Job responsibilities In your role, you will primarily work on family therapy cases related to two collaborations between the Social Administration and the Education Administration: “Attendance Team” and “School Return Program.” The working methods are characterized by close collaboration and a systemic theoretical approach. The school social collaboration forms are cross-professional and consist, in addition to the role of family therapist, of a school psychologist, social worker, and special educator employed by the Education Administration.

The position is fundamentally a family therapist position, with a clear focus on close collaboration in cross-professional teams. The “Attendance Team” targets children with school connections, but where the school's interventions have not been sufficient. The “School Return Program” started in the fall of 2025 and is a program aimed at children with long-term school absenteeism.

Family therapy interventions become relevant when it has been assessed that the family situation is in some way the reason for the problematic school absenteeism or when the home environment maintains the absenteeism. You will work on behalf of social workers, and the interventions are currently assistance-assessed.

You will not belong to any of the existing workgroups in the unit but will have a specific and independent role, which is why it is important that you enjoy driving treatment and development work independently. However, you will have a family therapist colleague with the same assignment. This colleague has a temporary position that runs until September 2026 but will be extended if necessary decisions are made.

As support in the assignment, you will be supervised by a group leader. You will also work closely with professionals in the Education Administration and have regular collaboration with them.

Your profile Requirements for the position:

• Degree in social work or other higher education that the employer assesses as equivalent
• Basic psychotherapy training (formerly Step 1) or documented knowledge that the employer assesses as equivalent
• Experience with the target group

Meritorious for the position:

• Good knowledge of neuropsychiatric disabilities (NPF) and how these can affect children's schooling, daily functioning, and family life
• Experience as a family therapist within social services

You find it easy to independently drive treatment processes and enjoy having significant personal responsibility.
